About me

Hi. I’m Wille Rajala
a professional snowmobile and avalanche instructor

In 2015 my life took an unexpected turn. The success of my ecological luxury fashion business suddenly ran out, leaving me in shock. Not knowing what to do, I turned to my other passion, the mountains.

For ten days, there was nothing but me and the sound of my snowmobile cutting through the fresh powder. Slowly, my sadness went away and left room for something else - aliveness, clarity, and freedom.

I realized that what truly made me happy wasn’t in the business I had just lost. It was in the sharp focus of anticipating each turn on the mountain.

In the triumph of going off the beaten track and carving my own way through untouched snow. In the quiet awe of nature when all engines are off. And in the aliveness of searching for the ultimate turn.

What I didn’t realize is that the greatest turn of all was happening right in front of me - I had gone to the mountains to come back to myself.

Returning to a lifelong
search for freedom

My fascination for snowmobiles started when I was only seven. When a diamond-plated Rolls-Royce towing something that looked like a sky rocket passed in front of me, I was mesmerized. I’d never seen a snowmobile before, but all I could think about was trying one.

Three years later, I managed to ride my first snowmobile towing logs at my grandparents’ farm. Even though the engine couldn’t carry me up the snowy forest hills, I knew that’s where I was called to go.

Then my life took
a turn

After seeing my first pictures of snowboards in the 80s, I decided to build myself using an old piece of wood. It wasn’t perfect, but riding under the northern lights was my first taste of freedom. I was hooked and my professional snowboarding career began soon after.

From 1986 to 1999, I won multiple national titles and achieved top ten results in world racing championships. After quitting competing snowboarding, I turned towards even more adventure - I began heli-skiing in North America and Scandinavia, looking for the ultimate freedom.

When an avalanche caught me by surprise

I learned my deep respect for nature and an appreciation for the fragility of life. I became one of the very few people to receive the highest degree of avalanche and wilderness safety training in the world.

Since 2016, I’ve been guiding individuals and groups on exclusive snowmobile experiences in mountains all over the world. In the greatest turn of events of all, I saw that my mission was to lead others towards their own ultimate freedom.
